I found a few useful resources in the evolution of the boss battleĀ
I used Mike Stout's article for boss battles to give it more structure and ensure a nice flow between everything
Flow was on my mind a lot for this part of the project since I felt it was very important for the player to feel good when playing this
I wanted a powerful intro cutscene to set the scene about who the boss was and how powerful he was
I created a few blueprints and did a little bit of visual effect work to get the effects to trigger where the boss walks for emphasis
I think it adds quite a bit to the experience overall and learnt how to implement cutscenes for further projects
Part of this project was accessibility in games so to make it accessible for a specific disability. For this project I targeted Cerebral Palsy and other similar motor disabilities
I adopted a one handed control scheme to make it easier for people to control and by having only limited controls I could limit the amount of button presses needed for the game
I also implemented a remappable control system since through my research I realised how important it was
